Our mischievous little elf friend has had quite a bit of fun over the last week at AES! Sugarplum McJingles has fished in croc-infested waters 🎣, celebrated the 67th day of school 🏫, and even gone for a sleigh ride! 🦌

The flyer explains that Miss Sloane’s class will be reading many versions of The Gingerbread Man, and since the Gingerbread Man is always running away, students believe he might be traveling across the United States—or even the world. They are asking for help spotting him. Instructions ask participants to mail a postcard or letter if they see the Gingerbread Man in their area and include: The city, state, or country where he was seen. What he was doing at the time. Sugarplum McJingles made her long journey from the North Pole this morning! She will spend the next three weeks keeping a watchful eye on all the good little boys and girls at Alliance Elementary School and report back to Santa each night.

She brought with her a special announcement from the North Pole:

"Attention AES students and staff!

Sugarplum McJingles has arrived!! Your official holiday elf for the season. Her daily duty is to observe your positive behavior.

She will look for:
- Kindness in your hearts.
- Role-Modeling excellence for others.
- Giving your best effort in all tasks.

Each evening, she will fly back to the North Pole and deliver her report. Please remember to uphold all AES expectations and keep the holiday spirit bright.

Remember: Look, but don't touch. Her magic depends on it!"

🥧 Pie Time at AES! 🥧

Several students at Alliance Elementary School had the chance to pie their principals, Lesli Waller and Taylor Logothetides, as part of a fun school incentive! While both principals took their pies like champs, Mr. Logothetides ended up being the most popular target, with most students choosing to pie him.

Alliance City Schools recently held the 3rd Annual Futures Fest! ✈ The event is an evening full of career exploration that supports the district’s vision of preparing all Aviators for Life, College, and Careers.

The event featured a job fair with more than 70 vendors, including employers, colleges, and branches of the military. Students, families, and community members were able to stop by to talk with vendors and gather information about future careers, schooling, and opportunities. The evening also included a career fashion show featuring middle school students.

Futures Fest offers activities each year for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This year, elementary students read about possible careers and filled out activity sheets about what they want to be when they grow up. #RepthatA

The left section explains that this free program connects elementary and middle school girls with high school female mentors who are leaders in sports, clubs, and academics at Alliance High School (AHS). The goal is to empower younger girls to recognize their potential and build life skills. The right section describes the evening’s activity: Mr. Quicci will teach participants photography skills, encouraging girls to capture the world through their own eyes. Joanna Shonk was the Star of the Week recently in Billie Muller's 2nd grade class! She invited her family to school so her dad, Adam Shonk, could teach her classmates about his career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Some of the 2nd graders at Alliance Elementary School learned about fire safety from a familiar face! 🔥 Alliance Firefighter Will Kinser, a 2019 graduate of Alliance High School, visited the classes of Crystal Haba, Amy Recchuiti, and Morgan Thomas to teach students about fire safety!

Will talked about the importance of smoke detectors, knowing your address, calling 911, and remembering to stop, drop, and roll. He also put on his full firefighting gear so students could see what he looks like while on the job and explained how each piece keeps him safe.

The Men Making a Difference Readers visited Alliance Elementary School to share some fun Halloween stories with students! 🎃

The MAD Readers come once a month and include firefighters, police officers, ACS administrators, Mount Union staff, and community members. We love having them in the building, promoting a love for reading and taking time to answer students’ questions!

Kaley Sloane’s and Sam Young’s classes at Alliance Elementary School practiced trick-or-treating yesterday! 🍭 Superintendent Rob Gress read a fun story about how dinosaurs trick-or-treat before students traveled around the school, knocking on doors and practicing saying “trick-or-treat” and “thank you” as they received their goodies! 🎃

This fun activity helped students practice valuable communication skills while enjoying the Halloween spirit.
