ALLIANCE, OHIO – (May 5, 2023) – Beginning the 2023-24 school year, the administrative structure at the Alliance elementary buildings will change to include a principal and assistant principal at each building.
Erica Jackson, current dean of students at Alliance Intermediate School (AIS), will step into the assistant principal position at the start of the school year, pending approval by the Alliance Board of Education at the regular meeting on Tuesday, May 16. Stephanie Garren will remain as the principal of AIS.
Cory Muller, the current principal at Alliance Elementary School (AES) will transition to be the principal at Alliance Early Learning School (AELS). Current AELS principal, Holly Power, will step into the assistant principal role starting next year per her request. She requested this change to allow her more time with her family and young children.
The open principal position at AES will be filled by Lesli Waller pending board approval. She has worked at Alliance City Schools (ACS) for the past 23 years where she has had a positive impact on many Aviators over the years. She began her career at Alliance as a cross-categorical intervention specialist at North Lincoln in 2000. She served in that capacity at various buildings in the district until 2018 when she became an instructional coach for the elementary schools. She joined the administrative team at the start of the 2022-23 school year as an assistant principal at Alliance Middle School.
“Ms. Waller is well versed in curriculum and instruction, displays effective communication and organizational skills and exercises strong problem solving skills,” said Michelle Balderson, director of elementary education. “She possesses a high level of emotional intelligence and her daily actions show that she is dedicated to helping our students grow both academically and behaviorally in a positive learning environment. I look forward to the many successes AES will accomplish under Ms. Waller’s leadership.”
Waller’s years and experience at the elementary level set her apart from all other applicants during the interview process. Her knowledge of the district and belief in the ACS core values will help her to lead AES in the years to come.
“I am excited and honored to be able to serve our Aviator community in my new role at Alliance Elementary,” Waller said. “I am thrilled to be re-joining the AES family and look forward to continuing the foundation of excellence that the talented team of educators have established for our young Aviators. I am eager to build relationships with the students and their families and work alongside them to cultivate an atmosphere of high performers, leaders and caring citizens.”
The search will begin immediately to fill the assistant principal roles at both Alliance Elementary School and Alliance Middle School.
